The APIKET Association of Producers, founded on March 4, 2012, consists of seven native communities, 6 ​​Kichwa (Cuenca del Tigre) and 1 Yagua (Amazon Basin) community. It was founded as a non-profit association formed to support joint production and marketing of the communities’ own natural resources (fishing and agriculture).

 

The following communities are members of the association:

  • Apayacu (Yagua indigenous community - Amazon River basin)
  • 28 de Julio (Quichua indigenous community - Tigre River basin)
  • Alfonso Ugarte (Quichua indigenous community - Tigre River basin)
  • Santa Maria de Providencia (Quichua indigenous community - Tigre River basin)
  • Santa Elena (Quichua indigenous community - Tigre River basin)
  • Bethlehem (Quichua indigenous community - Tigre River basin)
  • Sargento Lores (Quichua indigenous community - Tigre River basin)

APIKET is represented by its President, Mr. Francisco Arimuya Ricopa. Each community has a representative elected by internal vote, who also has a seat in the Collection and Commerce Committee. In total, 225 families (1215 people) are part of the Association.
