Project Repar Art: The Bio-Project of INKANAT at the Prison of Iquitos

ORLANDO, THE STORY OF HIS CHANGE

Repar Art is a project developed by Inkanat at the Prison of Iquitos with the BEtrade working model. Each carved key-holder constitutes a reparative act that promotes the process of change in the inmates and supports their reintegration into society.
The commercialization that our organization Inkanat performs with these key holders follows the principles of Bio-Trade and the principles of the BEtrade working model, principles that enhance the ability to work and repair of these craftsmen.
In this video testimony, Orlando explains what his artisan elaborations mean to him, how they have helped him professionalise and feel that is able to do something productive, beautiful and valued by others. Aware of this, and that these key-holders are his current and future economic backing in society, he asks us to continue supporting its distribution and commercialization. The last part of his story told is a space dedicated to his mother, his family, his wife and children, with a clear message: I love you.
Today Orlando is the teacher who trains other artisans at the prison, and with each training process is transferred the elaboration, repair and hope for a different future.

For this end, they apply it directly to the skin from the tree by rubbing, changing the red resin into a white ointment for external use.
